This game has a mix between FPS and various other games including a pretty obvious throwback to early-UO. Truly speaking, I don't see how you could fail to see the obvious UO influence and the aspects of Darkfall that a UO player would enjoy.
 
Darkfall mostly resembles early UO with considerably less bugs and a considerably faster response to issues in the game. UO was first, so they encountered many issues that Darkafall devs obviously learned from. Also, technologies used to do MMO games have come a long way since the days of UO, which gives the Darkfall devs access to plenty of stuff that wasn't available to the UO devs such as extensive logs.
 
However, no better what it is the same as other games. I think this game is definitely worth playing. It's a really fun game that's prone to the same stupidity of all MMOs. Many people intentionally put themselves on an endless treadmill of character development and blame the game for it. This game allows you to treadmill all you want, but you don't have to treadmill to play the game. New characters are more powerful in Darkfall than any other MMO I've played.
